Since October 2010, DatAData invites researchers and young artists/researchers to jointly tackle questions raised by contemporary esthetics associated to digital cultures, and to accompany the current evolution in the educational aspects of digital cultures in France and abroad. The researchers of DatAData believe that the present environment of digital technologies challenge us to go beyond the questions regarding the position of digital arts as a genre within contemporary art. Thus, they set as framework for their inquiry the relationships between the artistic praxis and the digital world. They wish to study how the digital tools and the paradigms upon which they are built would influence the types of artistic experimentations, how they contaminate the practices and how they allow a new textuality and materiality to emerge which in turn impacts on thinking of the conditions and challenges on digital production and dissemination.
